The Division of Workshops and Industry-Academic-Government Collaboration

 Researchers and fellows are going to collaborate to comprehend the needs of communities, industrial circles, practical arenas of psychology and welfare, and local governments and conduct studies, workshops, and joint projects by using the University's functions and resources. The scheduled projects in the fiscal year of 2019 are the following:

"A project of building an employment support system for students with suspected disabilities in collaboration with companies in Tama area, universities, and employment support agencies"

The representative for this project is Hiroshi Ogawa.

 Students with developmental or suspected disabilities often have difficulties in being employed, while more companies tend to hire new graduates with disability certificates these days. In the recent difficult situation of securing staff resources, quite a lot of small to medium sized companies desire to hire persons with professional skills. Therefore, this project will hold a series of workshops around Tama area to build a network between universities concerning job hunting support for students with developmental or suspected disabilities. At the same time, we are going to collaborate with company circles around Tama area and hold job matching events for the students and the companies in the fiscal year of 2019. (supposed to be held in January or February.)

"Research method workshop for younger and middle level practitioners"

The representative for this project is Tetsuo Fukushima.

 For practitioners who are active in the field of welfare or psychology and are fostering their own awareness of the problem and practical wisdom, it is important to publish those awareness and wisdom in the form of a research or a monograph. This workshop will provide an opportunity for those practitioners to concretely learn both qualitative analysis and multiple classification analysis and support them to conduct research in close relation to their own fields.

The concrete contents are the following:

  • (1) Methods for sort out the data of the free descriptions, notes, and interviews to be able to analyze.
  • (2) How to choose and conduct methods of analysis.
  • (3) How to write the results of analysis.

"Workshop for parents of children with developmental disabilities"

The representative for this project is Hiroshi Ogawa.

 These workshops are for parents who are distressed by nurturing of their children with developmental or suspected disabilities and will provide useful information, covering topics from school age to puberty, for parents to be able to raise their child/children with future

prospects.

 In the fiscal year of 2019, we will hold four workshops.

"Workshop on picture book reading -- learning the impacts and basics of storytelling"

The representative for this project is Tomomi Kurano.

 By reading aloud, the picture book reading connects people including children. It is said that it extends healthy life expectancy.

 This workshop is an introduction, the most basic of basics, in which you will appreciate the fun of reading aloud and storytelling. You will learn it with university students who are also the beginners. Why don't you have an opportunity of reading aloud and laugh together, and take a first step toward volunteer activities and social inclusion?

"The Otsuma disaster prevention course: knowing evacuation spots at the wide-scale disaster through lectures and simulation experience"

The representative for this project is Hiromoto Hori.

 After the great east Japan earthquake of 2011, there have been earthquake disasters in various areas in Japan. According to Tokyo disaster prevention meeting (2012), in the next 30 years, the Tama area may be hit by the epicentral earthquake of M7.3 scale with probability of 70% and the number of evacuees in the Tama area may surpass 33,000 at a peak period.

 This is a public course for residents and workers in Tama area, regardless of age and gender. This course consists of two parts, one is a lecture and the other is a participatory program. In part 1, we will invite a person who has gone around various places telling people his/her personal experience of the great east Japan earthquake, to hear the experience of evacuation center and approaches toward reconstruction. In part 2, by using STEP (Simulation Training system for Earthquake shelter Program), we will gain a better understanding of disaster prevention and shelter operation at the time of the wide-scale disaster. (There is a possibility that these contents will change.)

"Workshop on improving practical and research skills concerning community cooperation for welfare professionals working on community life support"

The representative for this project is Tomomi Kurano.

 The following two workshops will be held for various welfare consultation support professionals working on community life support, including social welfare counselors and mental health welfare professionals. As a rough guide, goals will be set by years of experience. Let's learn together and make friends.

(1)Practical report course -- practical reports and researches for the first time
(2) Reflective workshop -- Thinking your practice by using social work theories
